Padma-shri Dr. Indira Hinduja is a renowned Gynecologist and Infertility specialist in India. She is the pioneer of In-vitro Fertilization and credited the delivery of India’s first scientifically documented test-tube baby (1986), the first GIFT baby (1988) and the first egg-donation baby (1990). She is a founder of the Sunflower IVF Centre, Inkus IVF Centre formerly and recently started Hinduja Hospital IVF Centre where she is currently practicing IVF. After completing primary education in free Municipal school being a good student, she earned MD in obstetrics/Gynaecology and also awarded Ph.D in the subject of Human IVF and embryo transfer from Mumbai University. Dr. Hinduja is honoured with numerous awards. Some of the prominent can be listed as Padmashri Award(2011), Mayor’s Award, The Young Indian Award, Bharat Nirman, Excellence Trophy(1994), The Indira Appreciation Memento 2001 crusader trophy for medicine, Prerna Award, Hirkani Award, Qimpro Platinum Award, Savitricha Leki, Execeptional Women Achiver’s Award and First Ladies Award by ministry of health and child development in Rastrapati Bhavan, Lifetime Achievement Awards by three organizations.
